TorontoFilmFestivalReviews.com: Visions

Visions

The Visions programme reveals remarkable approaches to storytelling and unusual filmmaking techniques from both established and emerging artists.

This year’s Visions programme features Ana Kokkinos’s The Book of Revelation, a story about a stunning dancer, Daniel played by Tom Long who exists in a wistful world of dance and expression, all the while in a distant yet content relationship with his girlfriend—but his most intense relationship is with his choreographer. When Daniel leaves to buy cigarettes, he disappears, terrorizing the dance company and his women. Upon his return, Daniel is a changed man, unable to dance or emotionally connect with others.

Catch The Book of Revelation on Saturday September 9th at 9:00 p.m. in Paramount 2, Monday September 11th at 3:00 p.m. in Paramount 4 and Friday September 15th at 5:00 p.m. in Varsity 1.

Another film in the Visions series in Jay Anania’s Day on Fire, a brilliant combination of aesthetics and traditional style with the muddled issue of terrorism. Day on Fire is a film that focuses on five characters as they expose a world of violence and disorder amidst Anania’s interspersion of aesthetic beauty.

You can watch Day on Fire on Wednesday September 13th 6:00 p.m. at Paramount 1 and Saturday September 16th at 9:15 a.m. at Paramount 4.
