TorontoFilmFestivalReviews.com: Short Cuts Canada

Short Cuts Canada

Short Cuts Canada features short films—under 50 minutes— by both established Canadian filmmakers and novice artists showing their first works.

Several short films will be shown in this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and among them is Frederick Pelletier’s L’Air de Rien, an 18-minute-long account of two young men who struggle to venture back home after a night on the town.

Catch L’Air de Rien on Monday September 11th at 9:30 p.m. and Wednesday September 13th at 9: 00 a.m. at the Royal Ontario Museum.

Another short featured in this programme is Antoinette Karuna’s The Broken Hearted, an 11-minute film about a young woman who travels deep into a forest seeking a community that mends broken hearts.

You can watch The Broken Hearted on Sunday September 10th at 5:45 p.m. in Cumberland 3 and Tuesday September 12th at 9:30 a.m. in the Royal Ontario Museum.

Along with many other great short films in the series is Geoffrey Uloth’s The Ecstasy Note, an account of a middle-aged kite flyer, Henford whose wife stabs him with a fork, engaging the attention of the medical community, women’s clubs and the entire town.

View The Ecstasy Note on Thursday September 14th at 8:30 p.m. in Cumberland 3 and Saturday September 16th at 9:30 a.m. in the Royal Ontario Museum.
