Mavericks

The Mavericks programme provides viewers with the inside scoop from leading entertainment personalities as they express their secrets, stories and glimpses of their upcoming projects.

At this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, one film in the series, An Evening with Michael Moore, features highly-acclaimed filmmaker as he will discuss his career and life journey since his hit, Fahrenheit 9/11. His next film, Sicko, will be released in 2007 and will take a closer look at the health care system.

Watch An Evening with Michael Moore on Friday September 8th at 9:00 p.m. in the Visa Screening Room.

Included in this year’s Mavericks programme is Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan’s The Making of a Bollywood Blockbuster. With Indian cinema’s biggest names in the film Never Say Goodbye, Khan plays an injured soccer player who falls in love with another man’s wife.

You can catch The Making of a Bollywood Blockbuster on Sunday September 10th at 5:00 p.m. in the Isabel Bader Theatre.

Completing the Mavericks programme is Vanguard Cinema: John Waters and John Cameron Mitchell in Conversation. With critically-acclaimed hits like Pink Flamingoes and Polyester, John Waters introduced his own genre of shocking cinema. John Cameron Mitchell’s Shortbus, featured in the Vanguard programme has established him as one of the most adventurous directors of his generations.

Catch Vanguard Cinema: John Waters and John Cameron Mitchell in Conversation on Tuesday September 12th at 8:30 p.m. in the Al Green Theatre.
